Serial number location depends on the year. Early ones were on the right hand side of the transmission, just under the operators platform ahead of the right brake pedal. Later ones were on the lower dash panel by the hyd pump.

The 88's didn't have hydraulic control levers, but instead had electric switches. On the steering column below the steering wheel there should be one or two, big overgrown toggle switches that control the hydraulics. The switches were quite advanced for the day but were troublesome. On some 88's the hydraulics were updated to the super 88 hyd system which had levers coming out of the top of the hydraulic reservoir, instead of the switches.Jim

Oliver 88 will have live hyds and live PTO, unless of course its one that didn't have the hyds on it. PTO lever is as your sitting on the tractor right behind you and on the right hand side. Hyds work no matter what as long as the engine is running so you can't disengage them, but thres alos a lever that is for the belt pulley so that might be what your looking at.
