It has been a pretty wet year here in North Central Texas this year. I have been trying to get my haygrazer in the ground but it has been too wet. It is supposed to rain again so I just went for it and sowed it on Sunday. I intended to disk in urea first but didnt have the time and couldnt get it on Sunday anyway. The ground is still pretty damp. Can I spread urea on top of the ground without losing too much? (supposed to rain tomorrow night) If it doesnt rain for a week how much of it would evaporate? (in the 70's to 82 this week) Anybody have any suggestions? This is in blackland. Thanks

Gorilla, Get that seed in the ground first!!!!! That seed does you NO Good if it is still in the sack! Fertilize and weed kill in 25 days or so later. Time is of the essense now, Got my 50 acars in Saturday, had to plow it first, This is the first time it has be dry in over 6 weeks. Our weeds jumped over 6 in in just over a week. So you only need to plow 3 inches or so to get the top loose and try to hide some of the weeds. It won't be pretty, But it will get the job done for this time. Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.

Thanks John A. I got the seed in the ground Sunday. It was barely dry enough to do it. I did the same as you, Plowed a couple inches deep to knock the weeds down and bust the crust off the top. I will probably just wait and put ammonium down in a few weeks when it gets dry. Thanks
