Hi Gang;
The Scotsman has almost finished his plot, its a shame that he made a mistake on the run on the right side of the plot, lost him the match. Otherwise he made a wonderfull job, and he has only been competition ploughing for 2 years.
Cheers David

Just got back from an afternoon plowing here on my farm. Many year old sod. Challenge any or all of those contestant to make my field look good! I sure made a mess! Was constantly fighting the hydraulics to keep plow in the ground, and tractor above ground. I'm facing some serious disking and dragging to level out that mess! I hurt all over, and job's not done yet!

Guess I'm wondering what the mistake on the right side was. He can come and screw up like that on my place like that any time!

He should be coming down there with his other wheel in the furrow, the plough slid over on the crosshaft(or the drawbar on a trailed plough) to leave the wheel mark on the right side of the photo (his left) He would then slide the plough back to the normal place on the crosshaft throwing the final furrow and the sole furrow to the left of the photo, towards his own crown, leaving the final wheel mark on the right side of the photo. That part of scoring at a ploughing match is purely acedemic but those are the rules, he would have lost 20 points, a real shame, because apart from a bit of grass showing up the furrow seams, he has done a good job.
