Stayed all day at consignment sale yesterday, all most at the last, a cute little Ford 1000. Original paint-nice, tire all match up, 3600 hours showing, all gages working , etc. More I looked better it got. Nice lady sitting on it, telling how she ran it. I ran it up to $3100. Did not get it. Dang these guys with more money than sense. Wonder if guy that bought it feels same about me. I'm still Ped, I realy want that cute little toy.

Was that over at Gilcrest? If I would have known you were there would have come over and shook your hand and said hello. I left after that second M on the end sold...

I was at auction couple weeks ago and saw two life size aluminum buffallos sell. One sold for 1500 and the other for 2500. Same aution two brand new 12 volt, complete still in the boxes, 12000 lb winches sold for 410 each. I bid 350 and then fell asleep, at stores they sell 1200 to 1400 each. I've been around auctions since I was a kid and nothing surprises me any more. I even had a women call me a few choice names one time because I was bidding against her. Many times I've waited all day too and didn't get what I went to buy, also have come home with the last thing to sell. Some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you and even after all these years I still get ticked when I put in a day for nothing.

There is an annual sale called the cow pasture sell in NC. The next one is first Sat in may. Last year 1500 people attended and will probablly be more this year. They sold for over 12 hrs last year without stopping.

The neighbor went to an auction a month ago that I went to as well. Sale started at 10am,he and his brother in law went at 8am to talk to the auctioneer about the financing and look things over. The trucks he went for didn't sell until dead last at 4:30,then they brought $6000 more than he wanted to give. Now that's a long day for nothing.

It kind of depends on the auction at a couple of big auctions I saw stuff going for more than it cost in the store. I wonder where some of these Idiots live it sure ain't in the real world is it.
On the other hand I have been to a couple of smaller auctions and did real good. Got a nice Photo 3/4 drive set missing one socket for $45 that would have cost me about $300 or more new. Also got a lot of good metal for next to nothing people don't like to buy metal or don't know what its worth. Bought about 2 ton of used brick for $15 at one but cost me $100 labor to haul it home.

That's no joke about the steel. Last time I bought about 3000 pounds of new steel for $50 and wondered why no else was bidding on it. Then the next sale you see idiots paying new steel price for old rusty pipe for fences?

Around here it is gate pannels that sell for more than new, and for 30 years I have wonder where the old guys put all the 12 inch cresent whenchs they buy at 12 dollars each.

Course I did by a brand new Sharp convection/microwave with books inside for 5 bucks...

Old cattle panels always bring as much or more than new but they are usually made heavier than new ones too just less the perty paint.

Hi Ken,

I never have been able to buy at a auutions. The first time I went, my Dad sent me to buy a Winchester Model 9422 that was selling new for $88 that year. It sold for $135.

I've bought a small amount of scrap steel a couple times for a cheap price, but I generaly just waste my time even going.
