A guy here in Michigan, name of EJ Potter pulled a tractor with an Allison W24 on it. Like a V12,but 4 rows of six cylinders in a W patern instead of a V,all on the same crank.

Sure suprised to see these engines on this site. Just been lookin at the sherman tank sites and was amazed at the chysler 30 cylinder engine (5 6cylinder engines on single crankshaft. Most were sent to the British and they loved them. The were also built with deisel engines but were sent to Russia. Quite a story, very interesting....

Yup, cant remember which series think it was after the caddys and before the ford V-8 and the wright radial. It was called an A-57 Chrysler and was one of the more reliable power plants for the shermans.

Heres the Ford, think it was there first 32 valve V-8, a little more power than the A-57...I think 500 vs 450

Back in the late 70s and early 80s there was someone from the Sherman, Dennison, Gainsville area of north Texas that was running one of those Fords in a pulling tractor, usually gave the Allisons and multi-engine pullers a run for the money. Think he was running on alcohol.

Believe it or not that ford started life as a V-12 aircraft engine but as Rolls and Allison filled that need, Henry heard they needed big V-8 tank engines so he just lopped off 4cyls and started pumping them out for the shermans or so the story goes.

Later on use to see those surplus running out in oil fields. Still have some of the Bosch 4 cylinder mags they ran a pair of them on it for 8.
