Its been a long day. I just broke a line on my IH 574 tractor with GB loader. It is a Steel Line for the down pressure on the loader arms. Does anyone know of a place where i can get custom steel lines made? I would like to stick with steel because their is a bracket that holds them all in place.

thanks for all your help

James

Oh Heck,

Not an earth-shattering problem; just plumb it in with galvanized pipe.

Thousands upon thousands of loaders built this way and that old IH sure isn't gonna hurt it any.

Too bad you are not in the Flint Michigan area I could bend and flare the pieces for you, I did it for years. Call a cylinder rebuild place in your area and someone may be able to do it there, or a pump/valve rebuild place. Maybe a tractor dealer in your area may do it as well.

You need to find a good hydraulic hose and fitting supplier. Most hose outfits don't have the flaring tools but it shouldn't be hard to find one that does. Talk to a heavy equipment dealer. If they don't do it, they probably know who does. Dave

You dont have to use flare fittings, The compression fitting work well too as long as they are done correctly.

I agree with ya there- I have a couple line custom made for the power steering on my Oliver 1600 as the steering moter was replaced at one time. One of the lines is a rubber hose that has a compression fitting on one end that will go over a cut off steel line and make a very nice repair.

I plan on having 2 more short peices made with those connection on both side for our massye 285, which has smalle leaks in both rubber flex lines in the steering circuit. The rest is all steel, but the hose is just so it has some flex. One is spongy the other is rock hard (don't worry, squeezed it with the tractor off and no oil preasure so as not to get oil under the skin. It was also just preasure washed and degreased for an overhaul so I can see exactly where the leaks are)
