Looking at backhoes this morning and I came across the following postings: Item #'s 160108696593, 120111282631, 330111439298 & 190105156069. Note that each of these "sellers" have "0" items sold, with three of the "sellers" having signed up to ebay on April 16th and the 4th one signed up on April 3rd.

Also note that for item #'s 120111282631, 190105156069 & 330111439298 the ad format is the same with an asking price posted. What do you guys think--is this just a way to use ebay for free advertising or could this also be a way to collect payment (mailed to a P.O. Box) and maybe the seller(s) don't even own the machines?

Don't even bother looking ot the last three items they have all been pulled.

160108696593 is still good so it appears to be legit.

E-Bay # 160108696593 Case 580 E I called the seller on this one and it seem to be a legitimate seller he also has a very nice Grove 35 ton truck crane on E-Bay.

He said he has quite a bit of item not listed so if interested in what he give him a call the Phone 3 is on the listing.

Now the second one # 120111282631 I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. he wants $8500 for a brand new John Deere $10 2005 model.

Will check some of the other today.

I saw a parting out ad on ebay yesterday. How does that work? It said don't bid, call with what you need.

It's a way for the seller to get around paying ebay fees.

And, a potential buyer gives up what ever little protection he would have if the sale went through ebay.

If someone reports an ad like that to ebay, so they're aware of it, the auction will be "pulled".

Bob, I looked again and it is still there. It is a Super C. It says right up front parting out. I didn't see how this could be fair to anyone.

Well, it'll stay there until someone reports it, and HUMANS at ebay take a look at the auction.

Report them to ebay as "suspicious". Then, look for them to disappear in less than a day.

Yeah,

Ya really got to watch the postings. Somehow, the scammers are coming in there, copying legit auctions and then relisting with the money routed to them instead.

Ebay has a little utility you can download to verify the auctions.

Allan,

I thought about something else too--wonder if the sellers would provide the serial numbers for these machines?

Im a big ebayer of antique parts, and that sounds super fishy to me. I hate guys trying to pull the wool over on other people. what a waste of time.
