2955 clutch...Man am I lost

Went to the farm last weekend and decided to run the 2955 a little. Been run very little since we lost dad.
The clutch seemed very low so I ask a friend who has used it some. He said the fluid was more than likely low.
Ok...we pulled the panel under the steering wheel and checked the thing. Not only was it low...it was darn near empty.
I figured I had better try and bleed the cylinder as it might have air and the fluid did not look all that good anyway.
I crawled up under it and had him pump the clutch
and hold it while I bled the thing until I got good clean fluid. We then filled it up and it seems fine.
My question is...everything under there seemed fine. No leaks, drips or seeps. Where did all that fluid go?
Could it have just evaporated over the years? It's been well kept, and it only has about 2500 hours on it. Dad only used it to pull a no-till drill.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

As the clutch disc wears ,hydraulic cylinder must move farther, using up more fluid . Just a guess, Dave
