What is the going rate in your area per tillable acre? Getting advice all over the board here and of course the lowest is the fella who wants to rent it. Want to do right by everybody without getting used or abused.

My neighbor was getting $10 per acre a couple years back. He got PO, and let it grow weeds - there are very few farmers left in the area, very little competition. And it was a 30 acre parcel, a small field. At the same time a friend of mine up near St Johns was paying $75, there was more competition up there.

The most I'm paying here in Montcalm County is 40 an acre,of course I've been paying that for quite a while and haven't taken on anything new. Neighbor works about 5000 acres, some owned, some rented, they are paying up to 75 for top ground close to their facilities.

Call me a liar if you want but just heard of some irrigated land here in Nebr that was rented for $220 per acre. There was also some nonirrigated land about 20 miles from me just sold for $3000.00 per acre! Where is it going to stop?????

Check with the county extension office. They keep tabs on land rent in MI. That said i think average ground is around $70.00

We aren't in Michigan but 11 miles south of the border and we pay from $40 for poor poor sand to $100 for decent soil with very good muck. Average about $65. I think you have better soils up north than right where we are. I have heard from up there anywhere from $70-$150 depending on the soil.

i will let my land sit idle rather than rent it out for less than the taxes that i pay on it.
