Hi Gang;
This is the last furrow of another competitor in the mounted class at the plowing match. The guy is using a 1960's International B-275 tractor, 35HP gross 4 cyl diesel, 4F & 1R with hi & lo, built in the IH factory at Bradford, Yorkshire. These 250-275-414 tractors are very popular here for ploughing, high weight to HP construction 100 pounds to 1HP which gives weight to get grip and avoid wheelspin. They also have diff lock.
The plough is a David Brown 2 furrow 12" width with extra weight for penetration in hard ground; again heavily modified for match work. Note the last unploughed strip is not dead straight but he would be able to turn it all over and skillfully leave a straigth and even open finished furrow.
Cheers David

You folks are really into plowing/ploughing. We haven't used 12 inchers since the 20s and 30s. We haven't used plows/ploughs at all in many years. It does bring back memories. We refer to that last open furrow as the "dead furrow".

Thanks for sharing photos all the time. They are always interesting!

I'm trying to convince Dad to let me plow some of the hayfield he wants to break... he isn't really into plowing, wants to wait until fall moisture and hit it with an offset disk.
