I am trying to find a 4WD utility tractor for use with a loader, back blade, rotaty mower, etc. on 50 acres. I have found a SAME Corsaro 70 with MFWD that is at an auction on Saturday. It has a Miller loader included.

Any words of wisdom about this vintage of SAME"s? Good points? Bad points? Availability of parts?

My uncle had a SAME model of some sort back in the 70's or early 80's ? 4x4 about the size of the JD2940 that he got to replace it. I don't know where you would ever find parts ? His was a good tractor ,but had hyd. or rear end troubles ? ,but eventually was discovered that a glass bottle was broken off in the rear end and that started it.Probabally from when on the dealers lot. Do yourself a BIG favor and look for one of those Deere 2940 or similar models depending on what size you need as his was a VERY GOOD tractor.

Ron,
In the early 80's (prior to joining the service) one of the garages I worked in we handled the SAME line. I am not familiar with the Corsaro, but the ones we handled were a good product. Lots of power, easy on fuel, durable and dependable. Only serious problem with them at the time was we were the only dealer in the Central Texas area and parts were still an issue because everything does break down sooner or later. Unless you have an access to a dealer or source for parts this could also be an issue for you. My .02 cents worth for whatever it's worth.

Jim

I can honesly say that I have never heard of that make of tractor, and I didn't crawl out from under a rock just yesterday. Unless you know of a local dealer that has parts in stock, and won't have to order them, I would give that particular tractor a very wide berth. Save yourself some headaches and let someone else own it.

Just out of curiosity, I thought I would give the group an update.

The SAME Corsaro 70 4WD(1978 model with about 4000 hours)including a Miller loader, very good front tires and old back tires sold for $4600 at the auction. The man who bought it has 7 SAME"s and genreally finds them to be a good used tractor, for those models below about 130HP. (Above that SAME apparently tried to stretch the envelope by increasing the horsepower, but leaving some components not up to the task).

By the way, I found that northeastern Wisconsin has quite a few SAME"s, since the distribitor for the entire USA was located in St. Nasianz, WI in the late 70"s and 80"s, so quite a few were sold in that area.
