I have tried to find out where I can get parts
for this generator. I have called Generac and
they have no idea about this product. I found
out they have restructured and bought by someone
else. Does anyone know if anybody has parts for this generator, or who could help. It will not
hold its field. I have a neighbor who can get it
to run by putting dc voltage from a 1000 watt
Honda generator to the sator windings and get
full power output, but the voltmeter will not work.

If your Diodes have gone bad you will have to feed DC to feilds to generate AC . they furnish DC to feild Coils . Check the diodes Take end cap off generator and check diodes . Also you might have to Flash Field Coils to get going after doing this , Can be done with a small Battery 6 to 12 volts touched field brush terminals I installed some wires and left them on mine . Start gen up and just touch for a second to terminals "with a volt meter on output of gen" voltage should start to climb to normal . Make sure you get polarty right .

Yes the DC voltage has to be continuously fed
to it to get it to generate electricity.

You have something else wrong if you have to feed DC current to it all the time. What B&D was refering to only takes a SECOND or less.It has been over ten yrs.since I rewired a Generac(got rid of the thing) for the reflashing using a 12 volt battery so I'am afraid to tell you which terminels to hook to.PTO Generac's are famous for that need. Talk to a Bryant or Carrier Furnace dealer and ask them who does their service work(On their home standbye Gen Sets.) and they should be able to help you.

It has to be re-flashed every time the generator is started up? Or the generator will not generate unless DC is being fed into the brushes from an outside source? Tell us every little bit of data on the machine. Even is Generac doesn't carry parts. Everything is pretty generic and brand X parts can be made to fit and work.

I did a web search on them last year and find that Generac is now owned by Briggs & Stratton, check a Briggs dealer for parts.
