at first my 404 motor was running excellent, but would shut down from time to time, each time i'd start up and get going,it would clear out and run good, but now after all air is out of the 3 filters, and i start it up,it seems air bubbles start building up in the tops of the filters, does anyone know where this is coming from?it slowly kills the motor after a while too
ps,,,anyone know where i can get a john deere 404 motor injector tightening wrench?

Possible pin hole in line from tank to lift pump. Air will be pulled in but fuel won't leak out. BTDT,Tx Jim

Like Jim Tx, I have had the same problem. spent lots of time finding and dealing with leak. Even when I found and fixed pinhole, there was a problem. Finally had to replace intake tube in tank, which feeds thru a port on top of tank, typical automotive system. "bout drove me crazy. that air is coming in somewhere!

hi ben ,my tractor has an electric fuel pump, its working right ,but i'm starting to think that i've got a tank opening to the fuel pump is stopped up possibly, acts like its running out of fuel in the filters before the pump fills em up,what you think sir

What model tractor?

You can take the fuel cap off; then take the line off of the pump and blow compressed air back to the tank; if you think the line may be restricted.

Do you use a stick to check the fuel level? Check the pickup from the tank. Found that a few times on trucks, line was plugged with bits of wood and the pump sucked air in to the lines which ended up in the filters. Nearly always, I found that the fuel guage was not working and the owner was using dirty sticks to check the fuel level.
God Bless,
Rex
