I am getting ready to paint a 2520 john deere. It was painted another time since new and the guy got enough paint on the screen that it filled the holes in places. Is there an easy way to get this out? I thought about using a pin, but I was hoping there was an easier way.

thanks for your help

Back in the '70's I lived in Memphis, Tn., and my favorite hardware store sold a small plastic bag of a white powder that was intended to restore paint brushes that had not been cleaned after use (oil based enamel). You simply poured the powder in a container, added water ( I think ), submereged the hardened paint brush in the solution for 24 hours or so, and walla - a perfectly clean brush. Don't know if it is still available, but if so, it might work without damage to the screen. And it was CHEAP. Bob f.

Is there a trick for painting screen and not filling the holes? I have never painted fine screen like this before.

Well to be honest about it.don't know.

I've painted some screens from time to time. But mostly wider opening than the deere screens. on the deeres they are closer on the openings than most brands. therefore the more they are painted the closer the opening is.

I'd say clean them good and just mist the paint back till you get the amount that you want.

Yep. Sandblast works great. I used it on a Farmall 560 air cleaner screen, to get the rust off. It would also work on paint I"m guessing.

To remove paint I suggest you use paint remover. Get something that has methlylene chloride in it.
