Agree with most others as for price and milage. One thing no one has mentioned is if you are going to drive it on the road check with your insurance agent. Some companies are getting out of insuring vehicles over 15 yrs of age unless you list them as classics. This way they can gouge you on premiums.

Then offer them $1500.....the reason they don't put them in the book anymore is they gotta stop some place.....you and others will decide what that truck will bring.....they would be tickeled pink if somebody would buy it for $2000..... $1500 is a bunch..... .

I don't have any specific value info on the truck you mention, but I do have an opinion generally.

I feel that any vehicle that runs and will pass legal inspection is worth $1500 minimum.

I would be most concerned with rust. The 73's rusted very, very badly, the 74's were a little better and by 81 the rust problems were not bad at all. But a 75 is iffy. If there is much rust through visible, there is a whole lot more that you can't see yet. While parts availability is excellent and parts cost is very good, doing very much body work/rust repair will quickly make a $2k pickup a $10k pickup, which you could never get out of it.

The other thing I would be asking is how many miles the engine has on it, and just what "crate engine" it is supposed to be. That term can mean anything these days, from a real good and expensive engine, to the lowest quality and cheapest overhaul.

If it runs good, drives good, has good tires and interior and matches your needs, I doubt that you will find too much better for $2k. Good luck!

The day of the 500 dollar pickup are gone, and its too bad. I wouldnt pay much more then 800 for this truck, its downright OLD already, and if your somewhat familiar with anything newer, these older pickups are really rough riders. I got an 02 Chev, and it rides like a dream....eventhough its got all that jazzy stuff on it, I dont care anymore--I used to say the older trucks are the way to go, but the gas mileage kills you in them, and now days you have to look at that. If I were you, shoot for a 88-98 Chev C/K pickup- tons out there and they do alot better for mileage then that old '75.

Sounds a little high to me. My 75 rusted out very bad, lack of something, while my 72 is built like a tank and still solid. I all way though any pickup that is running good was worth a thousand.

Figure the value of the truck at scrap value, or whatever you think it might part out for, and then add the value of the engine. Deduct for however many miles the engine has since new. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $800, and then only if the crate motor is relatively new.

try this website, www.nadaguides.com, I use this web site all of the time. It is way better than kely blue book, as far as the new engine and stuff, that really does not affect the resale value, only to the seller, the body still has the high or low miles along with the drive train.

Sounds a little hig to me but it also depends on where you are as to what prices are. I got my 1980 4X4 heavy half ton a couple years ago and payed $1200 for it and have been more then happy with it. I work it and then over work it and it still just keeps going. It has a 350 and a 4 speed in it and also has high gearing in the axles so I get around 17-20 MPG with it which is also very nice
