I have a case skidloader with a case G148 engine. It has beed acting up. After you run it a while it will just quit and if you wait a while it would start up. It has been a while since a tune up so I put all new points condenser plugs wires cap and rotor also a fuel filter. started it up to check things out fine. 15 minutes later will only stay running with choke on?? now what?

Another spot to check is the intake manifold gasket. While it is running spray a little carb cleaner around the gasket area (carb side and head side). If the engine changes speed you found your leak.

Simple something in the fuel delivery system is plugged. That the only thing that can cause engine to only run with the choke out and warm. Start at tank an work down to carb. Walt

I guess there's a few different things that can cause that problem. But I had an air cooled Wisconsin engine for an irrigation pump that got like that. The valves were burnt. Replaced the valves and it ran like new again.

"Only runs w/ choke"

Could be a bad vacume leak .. like a cracked manifold that opens up.. or could be spark.

Check spark next time she dies.. if it is spark.. look at key switch.

Choke = extra manifold vacume.. so it might also be fuel restriction..

Check carb bowl drain when she dies.. see if carb has gas in it..

Just a thought and easy to check. I have seen it where the vent hole in the gas cap gets plugged. Thats how they act when that happens.

Sounds like a problem with the fuel system plugged tank outlet, plugged filter, bad rubber fuel line etc.
