I am in the market for a foam marker system for my sprayer. Doesn't have to be big or fancy, I'll spray about 60 acres at a time. Boom is about 40' I checked with Sloan Express, their small unit for pasture and small farms runs about $650. I can live with that. I called Richway and they priced one to me for a little over$1000. Too much for me. Anybody in Eastern Ia. or Western Ill. that sells them, contact me and we will see what we can do. Notill bean stubble is starting to get green already, time to do something even if it's wrong. Chris

A short time ago there was a post with a link to
building your own. Try searching the archives.
Never mind here it is.

The sprayer that we have has a foam marker. At best it is a guide. The margin of error is still too wide. Even with the marker it is difficult to stay on target. Gaps and double over areas still happen too often. We ended up blocking a few rows on our drill that allows us to always pick the exact path to drive in. Always on target, simpler than a light bar and nearly as precise. Saves about $2000 in seed per year too.

If your budget is limited; and you are reasonably handy; they are easy to build.

You might check with Sprayer Specialties to see what their's cost. We have one of their high output foamers on our sprayer and it's been pretty reliable as far as foam markers go. I'm running an Outback light bar most of the time but I still use the foam quite a bit.

With very useable GPS lightbars going for $1200 or less, I sure would not be satisfied with a foam marker. I know when we changed from foam markers to GPS, we instantly picked up 10% more acres per load of spray or seed/fertilizer when seeding and spraying. Add to that the ease of use and accuracy plus all the other little chores you can do with it including accurate area (acres) measurement. Most will let you try before you buy, so your out nothing if you really don't like it.
