I left the house at 7:00am after feeding cattle, worked until noon, went home had lunch - hayed and watered animals- went back to work until 6:00pm, locked up, went home and cleaned out barn-stalls, took the spreader back to the shop hooked it to the tractor unloaded, closed down greenhouses for the night, fed dog, fed cows again and water, did laundry ,made dinner, showered, ate, was in bed at 11:00pm. long dat but i find myself working later because of the time change-length of day. I do about 14-16hr days. How about you guys?

I work 24 hours a day, when I'm at work. My shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., but I'm usually at work at 6:30 a.m. as a courtesy to the guy I'm relieving; theoretically, he/she is supposed to do the same for me, but it's an honor system, and not everyone is honorable.

Work one day on, one day off for 13 days straight. Then have 8 days straight off. I do work a second job, average about five or six shifts each eight hours long a month. Try to only work the second job on my eight days off, but do pull an occasional shift during the work set.

Every day is different now, depends on what is going on, but 8-10 hrs and I've had enough lately. I do enjoy workin on my own, after a lot of years working in NYC, 165 miles from home, that was 3:30 a.m. start on monday's, get home in the evening exhausted, then on the road 5:15 a.m. the rest of the week, on the job at 6:00 a.m. try to leave at 2:30 p.m. on friday's, 3 or more hours to get home, repeat weekly. I'm not sure what is wrong with me, I don't miss it, the stress, the big salary, job title, and all the rest. I do miss the big jobsites, all the trades, and watching the high class women in midtown during the nice weather, but for some reason I'd rather be out brushoggin or pushing dirt or some other thing than the stress of high rise building construction, and 10-12 hour days. I used to cope with these kind of hours, but not so much anymore.

My day started at 2:30 this morning and I hope to have it wrapped up by 10pm.

I don't care. It's better than working for somebody else.

Just my view,

Allan

Through the week, up at 6:30, at school at 8, leave at 2:00 go to physical therapy until 4:30, stop by the house, rest an hour or so, go to the farm and check the cows, back here by 8 or 9. Weekend, depends on the night before. Normally at the farm by 900, home about 9, out again or on the computer until about 1. This weekend will be rough though, I've got an art gallery showing at a club, got to be there until 4 am Sat morning. Im way too old for those kinds of nights.

Worked a 12 hr. shift last night. 7PM-7AM. Came home and checked the cows. Found a new calf!! Laid down from 8:30 am to 11 am. Checked cows. Started spreading nitrogen after that. Fed cows after spreading N at 3:30 pm. Found two more new calves!!!! Pulled hay spinner off and hooked up to the CCM tiller for a garden spot, then took it off and put the spinner back on by 5 pm. I then proceded to install a new jack on the manure spreader because I tore up the old one a few weeks back$%$%. Got that jack on and hope I don't forget to remove this one next time I use the spreader. LOL Checked cows again and helped my son remove some motor mount bolts on an engine were going to pull out tomorrow. And now it's almost 8pm here. Think I'm going to take a long nap now. I think I can sleep two rows at a time now. I'm off from the mill a few days too.

I get up at about 5:45, go to school and work until the kids get there at 8, then help some of them with work until school officially starts at 9, eat lunch at 12:20 with them, and school gets out at 3:15, then help kids until 4, pick up my wife from her school, get home around 4:45 and cook a meal, still have a couple hours left after that to watch some TV and relax before bed at 9.

When I'm at the farm I'm usually up around 5 am and work until dark which usually is around 8:30 or 9, eat supper and get to bed by 10 to do it all over again.

I'd rather do the physical labor at the farm than the mental marathon these 6th graders put me through! But the pay is more steady at teaching... :o)

I haven't worked like that since I sold the dairy cows 3 and a half years ago. These beef cattle don't keep me busy enough,I've gained about 30 pounds. just feed them, sit in front of this thing, watch RFD TV or tinker in the shop. Maybe I should think about getting a job. On second thought, the IRS would get it if I earned any more. Maybe I'll just take up walking.
