hi, i was wanting to know what the point gap on a 1965 JD 2010 industrial crawler/highlift is supposed to be or what do you guys run or what you think it should be. even if yours aint a crawler, just any 2010 would like to know so i have an idea. It has a prestolite distributer. Also i was wanting to know the spark plug gap. And also Im wanting to know the idle and high speed jet settings.( how many turns out) on the carb. Its a MARVEL SCHEBLER. or least how many turns out they should be to get it started for the first time in seven years. Thanks to anyone that help, its greatly appriciated!

Carb - idle mixture screw - turn in, then back out two turns. Main load screw - start with four turns out. Float - 1/4"

Distributors - all of them set at .019 - .022" regardless if Wico, Delco, or Prestolite. All have a max. advance of 30 degrees at 2400 RPM.

Spark plugs - .025"

Keep in mind having the proper 6 volt coil on 2010s is critical. Many generic coils will result in a bad starting engine in cold weather. I don't think we ever had as many headaches with ignition systems on any other Deere gas engine as we did with the 1010/2010 series. Use the correct coil, and make sure the resistor bypass systems is working. The original was built into the IGN switch, but Deere later updated it to a different setup.

Bad switch can burn out points, make it hard to start and keep running. Had that problem.
