I'm not defending anything,I can take care of myself and don't need the government to do anything for me,BUT,I'm chairman of Township Board of Review and I can tell you, people come in and for all intent and purposes tell me "we need the government to do this, and we need the government to do that,BUT BY GOD DON'T YOU THINK FOR A MINUTE THAT I'M GOING TO WRITE THE CHECK TO PAY FOR ANY OF IT". That's all I'm saying.

I bought 2 houses twenty years ago. They each cost same as taxes where I live now. Let's board the Mayflower and head somewhere else. If I only knew a place.

I have considerd moving From WV #9 in nation in taxes . Just when you think you have heard it all now a tax on Cr#p . don't let WV law makers hear about that . Here they do worse they install a rual sewer system and charge 240% of your water bill for sewer service . My lowest sewer bill is $70 per month avrage is about $85 per month "IF THEY DON'T GET YOU ONE WAY THEY WILL ANOTHER" . Now they wan't to consolidate City & county Goverments that way they can charge more taxes & have more say over what someone does on there own propetry that they pay taxes own .

Local real estate, auto excise, boat and trailer, dog license fees take 4 of my ss checks. If I add up things I cant do without like food, electric, phone, insurance, shoes, clothes.Fuel oil, gas for my truck and tractors.I need an extra month in the year to have any money left over.We pay sales tax on vegetable seeds now.If I buy a bag of seed potatoes the state gets a buck tax.I can buy a ton of potatoes at the grocery store and pay no tax.Small businesses that gross under 10 grand a year have lost their sales tax exemption. Many suppliers will not sell wholesale to you without a sales tax #.I repair fence chargers and it is very hard to track small items you have sold to get a refund. The states plan was to force small shops like mine to in clude labor charges in their gross figures.Labor is not taxable under state law..The owner of Subway sandwich shops has to pay 2500.00 in back meal tax because he gives a free sandwich and drink to employees in the middle of their work shift. He will counter by charging 20 cents plus 2 cents meal tax to employees. The tax leeches are busy in Maine.

I feel your pain. Illinois Epa is pushing through an inspection program( and a subsequent 200 dollar charge) to test our septic tanks twice a year. Basically a way to tax your cr#p.

Sorry that I did not get back to you sooner. I am trying to retrace my steps in the IL EPA website, but cannot. It is beng put through as a mandate not as legislatiion. the home owner willbe required to have his septic anilyzed twice a year, at 200 dollars, if it is a surface discharge system. or show a valid maintenance contract with a licensed septic service. The public comment period expires July 22. Call your state reps to protest. If I can retrace my steps, I will post more info.

go to www.epa.state.il.us/ Then about mid page find a link entitled Public Notices. Then scroll down to NPDES Permit and Hearing Notices, then scroll down to March 19. The full web address that showed at the top of the page I finally got to was www.epa.state.il.us/public-notices/2006/npdes-notices.html#general-private-sewage Read 'em and weep

I feel your pain. My wife and I were just discussing how a person can"t afford to live in Illinois, after the Governor"s latest proposal. The only answer we could come up with was that we couldn"t afford to move away either.
