OT: What are used barn timbers worth?

The excavator is coming on Monday to take down the back barn. I plan to separate out the timbers and sell them, so I'd like some advice as to price.

All timbers are clear ash, hewn square. The barn is likely about 150 years old.

I think the longest two are about forty feet. Three others remain at 23' and there are 8, 12' vertical posts of about 10 X 10", as well as 24 6" poles which serve as rafters. Many other lesser timbers are covered by sheeting in bays and the granary.

I'm figuring a ballpark figure of 1.50 CDN per board foot for the main squared timbers. That would mean a value of $130 CDN for each of the two beams I have just installed in our kitchen.

Any alternate suggestions as to value would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rod

Probably at least 2-3 times that Rod. The Emerald Ash Borer is making Ash scarce in the midwest and the stuff you have in those sizes are even scarcer.

Did a google search for reclaimed lumber. Lots of buyers out there. Dont let it go to cheap. There is a big demand for that stuff in some markets here.
