I am wanting too put a two inch lift on my '73 ford.. or two iches more that is.. and for the rear I was going too get a chunk of thick walled square stock.. like say 6X2X6. that is too say, six inches tall, two inches wide, and 6 inches long.. but would this hold up? thats all the blocks are made of right now, 2X4X6" blocks from the factory.. but a buddy of mine said there is no way it would hold.. and at times I do have around 1 ton of weight in the bed.. so would I need a chunk of solid? or would square tubing work like I think it would? thanks for any input! Tim

Tim ,

You must be in your second childhood .

But on a more serious note , is that one of

those fords that the drag link attaches to

the tie rod a short distance from the right

hand end . If it is then do not put a lift

under it without lowering the steering box.

Reason is every bump in the road will cause

it to shimmy .

Two inches more? More than what? 6 Inch lift blocks is somthing no suspension company or 4x4 shop would ever sell. How are you planing to get 2 "more" inches out of the front? Not blocks I hope. Current trend for 4x4's is to stay as low as possible, install longer bumpstops to stop tire rubing and trim your fender sheetmetal to clear your tires.Take the old tire size/lift fitment charts and cut the height in half. Get a metal blade for you jigsaw and put the square tubing under you bumpstops.

Every bit of lift block that gets puts on there means more axle wrap when taking off and braking. Means you can break leaves in the pack easier and quicker. I had the main leaf break once but it was on a military wrap spring so the eye wrap and clamps held it good enough to get home.

They are prolly stronger than the channel frame they are attached to.

But you should ask chuck. Somehow it will be blamed on Newt's affair.
