Can anyone tell me how to check the level of power steering fluid other than draining and refilling? Thanks

My owner's manual doesn't say. Also doesn't say to do anything but at 750 hour intervals, drain, replace the filter and refill with 1 qt of automatic transmission type A or non foaming hydraulic oil.

My I&T says takes 2/3 quart for gas, 1 quart for diesel. Says fill to the filler plug for diesel and to the fluid level mark on the side of the reservoir on gasoline models.

From the parts book, there were at least 6 different pumps used, made by Cessna and by Barnes. With at least three different reservoir arrangements. The vertical cylinder reservoir probably has the fluid level mark stamped in the side. The horizontal drum reservoir probably depends on being filled to the filler plug on top.

Changing the filter looks easy for the vertical cylinder reservoir, just remove the top and lift out the filter. The other arrangement it looks like it has to be taken off the tractor and disassembled. And draining the oil is equally different. One may have a drain plug, the other you take off and dump out a small filler opening.
