I know this is of topic, but this place is the only place I know and trust for advise,so here goes. The wife bought a chevy lumina(1990) with a 3.1 v6 to drive to work to save miles on her big truck.Motor started "ticking" real bad in upper valvetrain area.Car has 200000+ miles and she didnt change oil all year(didnt run it low though).I changed oil and filter and added a treatment to it,then drove it 30 miles to warm-up,no results. I then took of valve cover near noise, seems to be deeper, maybe cam???But while looking and running, noticed only 2 of 6 hydralic lifters oiling! Is this motor worth digging deeper?? Only paid $600 for car.Any ideas or easy remedys that I can do myself?? Used to be pretty good on chevy small blocks in HS,but all these new vehicles are out of my league.Had a 350 chevy that used to rattle everyonce in a while, ran 1 qt of ATF in oil for 2000 miles cleared it up.Would ATF clean out any gunk in lifters and re lube stuff,or am I going to have to bite the bullet?? Any advise or Ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Hart

worn balance shaft bearings will sound like valve lifters and cause loss of rocker oiling.
