OK as most of you know ,I'm into my first Maple syrup adventure ,,great sap weekend last ,now we're in a bloody deepfreeze again I've got 24 trees tapped and got 4 gallons of frozen syrup sitting in the garage ...weather spozed to be nice again this weekend .think I can freeze it all and boil it latter ?Heading to Maine Skiiing next week and really need to know how long stuff can sit around ,,Neigbors gonna check the buckets ,but we knida want to do it on the weekend ,can I keeep it in the garage if it stays cool ,,??

Best to keep it frozen than warm.As said in earlier post it will get cloudy and spoil if kept warm(not much above freezing)
Started to run here in Nova Scotia but last few days been -20deg C.That kind of put a stop to it for a while.

Yes very sad incident Phil.I know of them,his uncle was a Stellarton town cop and temporary Mayor of the town.I live about 15 miles north of Hopewell and area.Been here all of my 40 years.
Did you say it is your first year doing Maple syrup?

Keep an eye on any stored sap. When it warms up, the stuff can go from clear to cloudy really quick.

The indians had a month they referred to as the moon of the popping trees, was that because the sap froze and broke the limbs?

In the North Country of New York, we call days like we have been having and are still, tree-poppers. as you can hear the trees popping in the extreme cold. SO when there has been a real cold nite, we say, "Boy that was a real tree-popper!".
