I need computer help, if I wait for Dell for ten days I will be blind by then from this computer. I have had this problem once before and corrected it using system restore. I have restored it 5 different restore points and still have the problem. After two some hours on the phone with the Indian lady from Dell it is now worse then ever and a teck is to come out in eight to ten days .
Here is the problem when you start the computer the back ground is green not blue. When it opens up the hole screen is lime green fuzzy and grainy and moving like when you TV tube was going bad. Pictures are all distorted every thing works as it should other then how it looks . As per other past post I got rids of Norton Ghost as I have Pc Cillin from day one . I get a pop up that says Viruses protection is out of date. I have clicked up date and it says it is up to date . I know it is paid for till 11/2009.
This newer computer is getting close to being road tested under a loaded 15- 5 -38 soon.. I hope somebody can help me please.
Thanks’ Northeast puller.

Thanks folks for the help .
It is a Dell E310 with flat screen monitor desk top. The hole set up was new in September so as I could search for a new job. ( Which I have not found a good one yet. Company merger and they closed the plant. That is 19 years down the drain.now )
Their are no magnets near by it. I tried my old monitor and it is still bad. The Indian women from Dell removed the Microsoft widows XP home edition and then reinstalled it which then made the fuzziness worse. .That is when she said a teck would be out in 8 to 10 days and if I did not here from them to call them in 10 day’s. I think I will call them first thing Monday and try to get them here ASAP 10 day’s is unacceptable. Thanks for the help.

My son is a computer tech for local community college - Has a degree in computer repair. Says that it is most likely the video card. (Or mother board, if integrated with video card.) He says that he often talks to the folks at Dell - Most often, he just tells them to just send him the part, which they usually do. (Of course, you have to return the defective one.)

What model PC is it?

What happened that triggered the initial problem??

The screen refresh rate being set too high on the video card can cause that symptom - but usually on older monitors. How old is the PC? Did the monitor come with it?

You might try booting into VGA mode by tapping the F8 key at bootup. If it is fine there - then you probably have a bad or incorrectly set video driver or the refresh rate is too high.

If you still have trouble there, your monitor may be going bad.

Swapping with another monitor as a test is also a good idea.

Howard

If this is a laptop, think you have a bad battery; try taking the battery totally out of the machine and running on the adapter to see if it clears up.

If it's a desktop model, you've got a bad video card.

Might be worthwhile removing and replacing the video card in case there is a bad contact. Also, unhook and plug back in the monitor.

It sounds to me like someone needs to see what you see to fix this. Do you have a friend or neighbor with an eighteen-year-old, or can you find one through your church? There are people out there who can actually communicate with the Indian lady from Dell and understand what she is saying. (I"m not one of them, unfortunately.)

Do you have another computer around that you can try swapping out the monitor with?

Do you have a fan, power supply, or any thing with a magnet close to the monitor?

Some newer monitors also have a built in degauss feature. If it does not there are some manual methods including using the drill and a magnet talked about earlier. It may not be the problem though if the whole screen is affected. I would lean toward the video card problem mentioned earlier. Hope this helps and as always your mileage may vary.
