They just announced on the news that the Delor overpass has collapsed onto I-55. The highway is completely closed about half way between 270 and 40/64. If you are traveling that area I suggest selecting an alternate rout. No cause was apparent, no trucks on overpass, etc.

According to the web page of the Post-Dispatch, it wasn't the main bridge, it was a pedestrian bridge and they cleaned it up before this morning's rush hour.

So it probably wasn't from being overloaded. More likely from being neglected and overly salted which leached into the concrete and rusted out the rebar.
