Hello All,
I Have just purchased a non running International 3500 with a loader & backhoe. My problem is that the left hand tire is locked and will not turn when the tractor is pushed. This tractor has a hydrostatic drive. Are there any electrical electrical interlocks that that would make this happen? Where should a 1st timer like me look?
Batteries were disconnected when we tried to move it. Right hand tire moves Left hand does not. We also tried holding the foward & reverse pedals that did not help. Can anyhelp?

Wayne,

Anytime you want to push, drag, pull or otherwise move a hydro using outside power, you have to put the gear selector in "N".

This will unhook the rear end from the transmission/engine and failure to do so will result in an immediate $5K melt-down of that hydrostat.

Let's just hope it isn't too late.

Good Luck,

Allan

Check with "ALLEN in NEB"but I think if you try to pull start a "HyDRO", you done tore it up..... Thats why everybody needs a manual before they start screwing with an tractor.....

I am not trying to pull start it. Just wanted to know what might be wrong so I can get it loaded onto a trailer. 12,000LBS is alot of weight to push onto a trailer with a locked tire.

Raise the wheel off the ground if it will rock a little back and forth then your trouble is in the gearing somewhere if not then it is in the brakes if the brakes then you need to remove backing plate and and see what needs to be done to fix the problem.

Walt

PS if you are not a mechanical person I would suggest finding a good friend who is to look at it as this is no simple job to fix.
