I have a 363 ford industrial engine out of a tr70 we bought for parts - motor on our reg. combine is good. Does anybody have any experience putting an engine like this in a tractor - was thinking about an 1850 oliver or 9600 ford - any other suggestions - would like to stay away from IH and JD because of initial cost. Any help would be appreciated - Thanks

If you only kenw it, there's probably a kit to do it. County, Roadless, and numerous others in Europe specialized in dropping the 2700 series of Ford industrial engine in the Ford 5000 chassis. The biggest hitch was supporting the engine. It needs frame rails, or a cast hull to support the tractor. That block was not intended to be "stressed". I'm not sure if it was 363's they used, but they often called them "Dorset" engines, or 2715E's I think.... I'm not sure if the 363 was a 2700 series, or the older industrial engine....
I guess you could fit it to a 9600 too, but it might be smallish? An idea anyhow.

I'd think the Oliver would be easy ? as they just set in the frame and use a chain coupler to hook up the engine shaft.
