Hi , The way I understand it without ever having one is the handclutch disconnects one axle from the differential . Forward movement stops since the tractors have a open differential . Pto continues to run as do all the transmission gears back to the differential . For what it's worth . ...Randy

The alls hand clutch is a wet clutch pack that actually stops the transmission from turning, while the M&W stops movement by allowing the differential to turn to that one side only. On both, pushing the foot clutch will cause BOTH the transmission and PTO to stop turning.

Not familier with M but on the Allis the hand clutch stops tractor motion and pto keeps running. foot clutch stops everything, motion and pto.
