My 2003 chevy 1/2 ton wont start cranks fine and the plugs spark, but they are wet when you pull them. I have tied putting ether and gas in the intake but it wont hit at all. The wettnes on the plugs doesnt seem to burn. I drove 20 miles after the last fillup so did someone spike my tank with something or what?

I've got a 96 with the 350, and if it's cool and wet outside, it won't start. Had a a dealership look at. They pull it into their heated shop and replaced a distributor gear and voila! One month later it was cold and foggy out, and it wouldn't start, did the exact same thing. It's definitely getting gas. I did the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and module, and it made no difference. Long story short, I plugged the engine heater (frost plug type) in out of desperation.Takes about two hours and it will start. My favorite local mech said there is a problem with moisture and the distributor with the early Vortech. If yours has a heater, give it a shot. I don't drive mine often, and I'm sure that doesn't help.

Larry, I have a 95 Chevy 4.3 that would NOT start. I tried cap, rotor, brain box, (ign. mod.) and even fuel pump. (yes I had to take the bed off) Still would not start. I gave up and towed it to the local GM dealer for the yearly porking. Came to find out, it was the ignition switch. (not meaning the key tumbler, but the lower switching device) He explained that there is basicly a "Y" in the wiring that allows the starter to turn over fine, but does not allow current anywhere else when it is bad. Try that before you waste several hundred on stuff you don't need, like I did!

I definately have spark, but can't tell if its the right time with no marks on the pully. I thought if the chip was bad it would not spark my friend says it could still be bad.

Best bet, put the plugs in a metal rack and heat them with a propane torch until the ground electrode is hot, and the wetness is evaporated off. Squirt a bit of good gasoline into the cylinders (one squirt oil can squirt per cyl) then reinstall the plugs and start it. I have seen wierd fuel cause the entire set of plugs to self short when wet. Good luck, JimN

I tried that with about half the plugs and seemed to try to start for the first 10 seconds of cranking. I have a fried comeing over to help so i can try more. Looks like i will have to tow it somewhere or try changeing the gas.
