Bob,

Ya really want to stay away from anything with a TA in it. They just won't last much more than 30 or 40 years.

Naw, don't you believe it. Green is the only way to go.

I've been watchin' the market and it seems the fun has kind of gone out of the old John Deere party as of late. We just gotta get those greenies back up there to that 300 percent over-inflated price.

I mean, it's a prestige thing, ya know. :>)

A "TA" (as used by IH) is simply a 2-speed transmission, ahead of the tractor's main transmission, that can be shifted "on the go" to give about a 30% REDUCTION in speed, and corresponding INCREASE in torque.

The first ones were where mechancially shifted, by the direct action of the TA lever upon a clutch, and the later ones used hydraulically-actuated multiple disc wet clutch packs.

Unfortunately, a word commonly associated with TA's is "OUT", and that word is commonly associated with $$$$$.

Not a problem, she is a little worse for wear, we inherited her when we bought our small holding. Even more unsure as to how she got 12,000 miles from where she was made. If you email me at cole-robinson@xtra.co.nz i will send you some photo's.
