Supposed to have been sleepiing between night shifts but everything incluiding my new high pressure washer is frozen in the garage. The baseboard heaters that are set at 45F were found ice cold this morning. Of course while we are having a sub zero cold snap. The FPE Stab-Loc two pole 20 amp breaker was found still in the closed/on position. Not even a visible warning of a trip. Even when re-set one of the two poles would not close. A new two pole breaker has the heat on now. The only good thing about it was the beer stored out there is frosty cold. Never did trust those stab-loc breakers. Now here's another reason why.

Yep
In the industry FPE stands for F-ing Poor Equipment.
They lost their UL listing because of bad quality.
As others have said Square D is top of the line.
But buy their QO series not their Homeline series which is much lower quality.

I consider the SqD QO and the Cutler Hammer CH series to be equal in quality. The CH has an extra spring for tension on the panel bars. The Cutler Hammer BR series is about like Siemens and Homeline in quality. I use ConductoLube when installing breakers. Expensive to buy, but a little goes a long way.

I believe that the QO has a copper buss and the Homeline an Aluminum buss.

QO and Homeline have the exact same internal mechanism. And I mean EXACTLY THE SAME. Only difference is the Homeline doesn"t have the flag trip indicator.

I had some similar problems many years ago when moisture seeped into my entrance box and got to several circuits. Caused by deteriorated petrox seal where main line connected to meter outside. Appliances would randomly konk out but no blown breaker.

SqD is about the best. GE is also pretty good.
Stab-Locs are a no-no. Never cared for them or the ITE Bulldog breakers.

Just explain to your farmer friends that the blue and gray color on SqD is like the green and yellow color on John Deere. Makes for higher prices.

The washer hasn't been test run but it now rolls over. No water runing out of the casing anywhere..... ..yet? The 200 amp service needs an upgrade to more than 42 circuits anyways to feed more garage tools and remote drive shed sevice. And a better transfer switch for the generator.

Boy, I hope that pressure washer didn't have water in it! Got mine out of the shop last weekend and water had frozen in it, and now the water comes out the side of the pump instead of the hose!

I always flush mine with a bit of that a-freeze liquid / pump lube you can get for pres washers.
