That's about the average used condition auction price for them old fuel hogs and has been for a while. 1066 and 1086 bring more because popular size and use less fuel. Any of the larger hp older tractors look cheap till the engine fails or other needs work and then you can spend more than they will ever be worth in a hurry and have to work hard to ever recoup what you spent when you could have bought something a few years later for a bit more and in the long run spent about the same with less headaches.

Yea they are a cheap old horse and ya only have about three work gears 3 rd low 1st high and second high , now from what i have seen second gear is the one that is the problem gear guys that have them like them . But i have always felt that being that it is a two wheel drive that ya could never put all the power to the ground tomuch wheel slip about like a buddys 6030 his was cranked up to way beyond reason and it was like just pick a gear any gear and go even with all FOUR rear tires loaded you could spin her out .

Dunno,

You'll have to make that call. Will a 3-speed tranny work for you?

And just for what it is worth, if a tractor of that size is listed for $4500, it will more than likely take another $15K or better to make 'er right.

Sadly, been there, done that. :>(
