To quote Little Richard, "Hep me, somebody hep me!!!" I bought an ARPS Half Track outfit at a sale last weekend and I was told that the widow who brought it in said it would fit an 8N. I laid it out beside my tractor, and I think the axle brackets are wrong. There is a tag with model BMG on it but I can't cross reference it to the tractor it fits. Does any one know where I can get information on the ARPS model numbers? ALso, if I can make the correct axle brackets will the idler assemblies fit? If anyone has a set for a 8N, I'd sure like to buy them or get pictures and deminsions. Any "hep" would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

Can't help you with Ford. The first pic is an Arps bracket for a Farmall M. It is upside-down. It is fastened to housing with special Arps made U-bolts

I decided to put the tracks on a H and made my own brackets. I think they are superior to the screwball brackets by Arps. The drawbar bracket is separate from my bracket and adds nothing to the strength of my bracket.

Make your own. I used 1/2 inch plate formed in a brake. The pivot pin holes are on a line from IH axle centerline to bogey axle centerline when both are on even ground.

You'll have fun throwing "rooster tails" if you run in top gear on a salom course.

Thanks for the pictures. I thought my unit might be for a IH, but looking at your bracket, I'm begining to wonder if it is for an Allis. Do you konw if the idler arms are a standard length? If so, I'll try and make myself a bracket and use the idler and tracks. It maybe driven by the rear wheel size ie. 28" for a Ford and 38" for an M or H. I located the man that bought the ARPS company who is down in Texas. His name is Wes Hayhurst (806 995 4401), but he has nothing but some of the track. He has none of the old documentation or model info. By the way, can you tell me what the model number is on your M axle bracket? Mine is BMG.

Thanks again, Dave

Don't know about arm length. I had to remove three grousers from each track to get it to fit the smaller H tire.

The 'M' in the model "BMG" might mean "metal". Arps also made a rubber/canvas belt track with cleats bolted on. I think they were common on Fords. The selection of metal over rubber may have something to do with tire size, but that is only a guess. The rubber would certainly do better in manure. On the other hand, my metal track came from a dairy farm liquidation. I thought I did well for $100.

This clicking thing is easier than going out to the barn. Warmer, too. It appears to be BM something.

Thanks, I'll go to the barn tomorrow and compare my bracket to yours, but I don't think they are the same. I'll also take some pictures of mine and post them.

Thanks again,
Dave
