Tuggle Which side of Houston are you on?
I am about 10 miles South of Weatherford, which should be close enough to get within your 5 to 6 hours. I have some Sudan/Sorg Hybrid cross, called Gotcha Puls. Rolls are 5 foot dia by 4 foot long. Been stored outside in tight rows. Cut Summer of 2006 on my land. Hay here is from 75 - 85, I would take $65/bale for some of it, if I had a way to load you out. Only have rear fork and can load lowboy trailers. Tom

Try "southeasttexas.com". I saw some advertised between Houston and Beaumont.

I'm sitting on 80 smsq of 2nd crop 100% grass, I hope to sell for $2.75 in March to some horse owner. I have an extra 250+ smsq of 1st crop mixed grass/alfafa that will either go to local horse owners or down to the local auction. If out of my barn, I will ask $2.50 next month.

Auction prices are creeping up from around $2.00 in Jan to $2.25 in Feb. I hate to sit on my so long each spring but it usually pays in the end.

I've got 15 head of sheep to feed and who knows how long until the ground thaws. I have stockpiled pasture that doesn't have permenate fencing so need the ground to thaw first. Then I have no need for hay until next winter's freeze.

You got any idea what Oat straw would bring? We've got a small wagon load we were supposed to have sold to a floral shop in October but they crapped out on us. Been sitting on the wagon since we baled it in August. (don't worry, it aint a kick wagon)

Don,
I threw out the past history sheets last weekend. Call the gas station in Monticello at (608) 938-4323. They keep a file on the counter with all of the past auction numbers.

The auction is every Friday in the parking lot. Jim McNeill is the auctioner. (608) 938-4822.

Usuall only one or two loads of straw per sale. About 35 to 50 loads of hay per sale day. Mostly rounds.

We pay $20 for 1600 lb round bails in the summer Boy I should save a few and truck them east.

I put up quite a bit of my own hay this summer and had a bit left from last year so I should not be in any trouble. I had trouble getting alfalfa cost near $200 a ton.

sure understand that. I saw a flat bed on hwy 44 loaded with all kind of disc. I'll give one guess where they were headed, right to that groosman recycle place. I hear they pay good money for old iron.

Shame it is.

Where are you in KY and whatcha got? I sold the last Im willing to part with for now last week and have people calling every day for hay.

I counted and I've got 90 4x5's barn stored (figure I will need 70 to get me through but I dont want to cut it closer than that. I may feed some round baled silage, got 190 rolls of it left and figure the guy buying will use a roll a day from now until hay comes.

I'm not that close but the last count I did I still have 10 big round bales left. I'd guess if the weather does as it does most years I'll only use 3 maybe 4 more of them if even that many. But I have been selling a few to the guy up the road also

Those are my good bales I also have 3 or 4 that I didn't have room for in the shed, there out side and look bad but maybe good enough to get by with if need be. I only feed 3 horses and 2 goats at this time so I know I will not run out. Talked to the feed dealer the other day and hes getting $75 each for bales and there not as big as the bales I have. Its crazy this year hope this wet winter keep up so its also a wet spring we sure do need the water in the ground after the last 4 or 5 years of very little rain

It is here also so far, what with the 3 inches of ice and then 6-10 inches of snow in Dec, then the ice and snow in Jan. which was another 2 inches of ice and 4-6 inches of snow and now its raining here today. But if it doesn't keep it up till around late may or june if will still not be enough

I will have to do some begging this year I really need to take down the field and re-plant. And if the ground is dry I will be in a world of hurt'n. I hoping that a fella the lives in STL will let be bale his place. He has 3 horses and about 46 acres of grass hay. that guy must have thrown away 250 squares last summer, and he never asked me to help him.

Yep sad how now days people throw away so much good stuff and not just hay but all sorts of other stuff. No wonder prices of steel are so high and the price of every thing else is also.

We had a wet fall and winter, but mostly rain and not snow or ice. Of course the ground is frozen here and supposed to get rain....
