I have an ih 454 that I am replacing the headlights in. The lights are held by a square rubber mounting bushing. I have purchased new bushings and I can't seem to insert the lights into this new bushing. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this? I have tried lubricating with soap, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Their is a product called luba film they use it in the dairy ind. It comes in tubes or spray cans It will not harm rubber very slipery. If you have a cheese or butter plant close by you should be able to buy it

Wrap a string around the rubber on the outside (with the light in it) and pull the string from the rear while pushing on the assembly to hold the lips in contact with the opening. JimN

Thanks for the info. I already have the old lights out. All I have is the new rubber bushings and the new headlights. I can't seem to to get the rubber completely around the headlight ot the headlight pushed completely in the bushing. I need a suggestion to insert the headlight in to the bushing. Someone has suggested warming up the rubber bushing. I will try this next. Any more suggestions will be welcomed.
Thanks

Sometimes it helps to warm the rubber parts, either in hot water or carefully with a heat gun or a hair dryer. Hope this helps.
