We really need a TRUCK thread but I will post it here.
I have a truck with air over Hydraulic brakes. Is there a way to set it up to pull a Pintle trailer with air brakes?

No you cannot use a trailer with air brakes behind a midliner. The air system is not setup to run a trailer. I will give you this advice if the truck brakes give you any problems sell it they are very very expensive to repair . I am a mack machanic with 20 years experiance.

This is a Mack Midliner. It has an air compresor and air storage tanks but I do not see any air system installed further than the master cylinder.

Then it's a lot newer than I thought. The Midliners were offered in a bunch of different configurations. Go see your nearest Mack dealer. If I remember they did offer a kit for this setup. If the kit is no longer available the parts involved will still be in the parts listings so you'll at least know just what you need to do it right.
Do it right cause when you hook to a trailer nowadays the DOT starts lokkin at you closer.

All of the civilian medium to heavy trucks I've dealt with that had air over hydraulic brakes were equipped with the old Bendix "Hydra-Vac". This is an air pump powered by engine vacuum. They barely made enough air to stop the truck. All of the semi trucks with this unit had a engine powered pump hooked to a tank for trailer brakes. You could if need be add the engine powered pump and tank. Prolly be cheaper to convert the trailer to electric brakes. Maybe some one else with more extensive knowledge can be of more help.

Maybe someone familiar with military trucks could help. I've seen military semi-trailers with air over hydraulic and glad hands and I assume the truck was set up with air over hydraulic too, so I don't see why the air going back to the trailer from one of these trucks couldn't run straight air brakes.
