carson...don't let all the scientific explaination confuse you. all you need is a plastic container, water, some washing soda, a battery charger, and a piece of scrap steel. stick whatever you're cleaning in the solution and clip the positive or red side of the battery charger to it, then put the piece of scrap in the solution and clip the negative or black side on to it. make sure they aren't touching, turn on the charger and wait til all your rust is loosened up and then clean it off. like i said...i haven't done it yet but i'm gonna. and if a dummy like me can figure it out, anybody can! it sounds pretty simple to me. i'm sure one of these other guys on here will tell you exactly what to use and how to mix it...and if i've made any mistakes in these instructions i know they'll set it straight for you and keep it simple. you can spend a lot of money on sanding discs and wire wheels cleaning the rust off a whole tractor. i figure this has got to save a lot of money and work...so i'm gonna try it.

PB works ok on bolts and stuff like that but my self I prefer useing tranny fluid on/in locked up engines. And if the tranny fluid doesn't work then I use turpentine, not paint thinner but gum spirits of turpentine. Turpentine eats rust but doesn't lube as good as the tranny fluid does. Nice thing is also the tranny fluid cost $2 a qt. and PB cost $3 or 4 for 12 ozs

I have never been successful in freeing a stuck engine by using PB Blaster, but then nothing else has worked either. Others have used it and are very happy. PB Blaster is as good a product as anything else, and it sounds like it is already dissolving some of the rust for you, so keep using it.

carson...that pb blaster is good stuff, i use it all the time. it just might work freeing up those pistons of yours so you just keep workin' at it. i'd rather see an 18 year old rebuilding a tractor than running around the streets gettin' in trouble, and i know your dad would too. i know i already mentioned to you about the electrolosis thing for removing rust...have you looked into it yet? shouldn't be hard to set up and shouldn't cost much to do it either.

keep letting us know how it's going and if you have any questions i'm sure everyone on here will do their best to to help an 18 year old young man fix up his first tractor. take care buddy...
