Hytran looks like ice-cream. In the cold weather the moisture in the gear oil of my Leyland prevents the hydraulics from working. The manual calls for motor oil. Changed the 16 gal. of oil ($$$!) which became contaminated at the first cycling of the loader. Any ideas?

Disconnect the return hoses next time and drain it straight into a bucket (or 2), then re-connect them. That should get most of it out. You can drain the lines ahead of time toofor the lift side to get that extra little bit out.

I'm guessing you have other IH tractors and that's why you're using hy-tran?

We do it too, exept we run Massey and Oliver, so we run Perma Tran III in ours.

No biggie, IH has HyTran, Massey has Perma-Tran III, and I forget what Deere has. Don't know about the rest.... Its all good though.

It's good for anything that uses the same oil for hydraulics and the transmission oil, and can be used in many others for just hydraulic oil purposes.

You could take the hoses off the cylinders and drain it all out of them but you wont get it all out but you can get alot of it out of there and maybe save a oil change.

you need to flush it, maybe a couple of changes. Not what you wanted to hear I know. Remember, there is quite a bit of oil stored in the tops of the 2 way cylinders, even when they are retracted. You need to get it out too.
