Al: If your Super A fan adjustment hasn't been adjusted for awhile, they can br difficult. You'll notice the slot it slides up or down in. First you must remove the generator belt. On the back side of the slot is a 15/16 nut, that slot frame is supposed to keep it from turning. Very often it doesn't and you have to find a 15/16 wrench that will fit in there and hold, yes even do a bit of movement. I say 15/16 as that is what mine had, however I wonder if these were originally 1". On front side between slot and fan pulley is a hex area on shaft designed to tahe 7/8 open end wrench. Persnally I'd put lots of penetrating oil on the nut and let it set for a few days. Good luck, these can try your patience.

the inner nut next to the head is not supposed to turn. You need a wrench that fits on the fan shaft in FRONT of the bracket. Now after 50 pluss yrs that nut on the back side may turn as it could have been replaced or rounded off or who knows. Anyhow that is the way it is supposed to be as it fits in a slot. Use a bar or something that can be used to raise the pulley assy up and hold while you get the fan shaft tightened. Helps to release the tension on the gen then retighten when finished with fan belt.
