Well, it really depends on what you do for a living as to just how much global warming effects you personally, for me, I am a maple sugar producer in Vermont, and the weather is directly connected to production. I really started to worry about the season when after the first of the year, it warmed up to 55*F for a week, which is completely wrong for that time of year and it felt like sping and the start of the maple season, which was still about 2 months early. I am glad I didn't decide to tap like some people did, otherwise I'd have been in trouble because now it has dropped down extremely cold during the last few weeks and pretty much stayed there, which is typical of this time of year. The 55*F January weather sure scared everbody, including the state officials, whom soon annouced that they wanted to take a real serious look into global warming since the maple sugaring industry is big buisness in this state, it is not only a tourist attraction which brings in alot of money into the state during fall foliage and also sugarhouse tours and maple fairs, and maple syrup provides alot of folks with additional income. If we had no maple sugaring, there would be alot of land owners who couldn't pay their taxes. The last 3 seasons in a row, my production has been declining, the weather just hasn't turned out right for a good season, either warming up too much and staying there or freezing and staying there. In order to have a good season, it needs to warm up above freezing during the day and drop down at night, but the last few seasons, the weather just hasn't cooperated for us and the season lasts only about a month, after that your tap holes dry out and/or too much warm weather will sour the sap. I am taking a hard look at investing any more money into maple sugaring at this point since its future is uncertain, however I hope for the best.
