I have a '95 dodge 2500 cummins and the cruise has been out for a couple of years. It started going out little by little. Any of you ever replaced one? How hard and expensive is it? It's not critical, but sometimes it's a pain.

Thanks guys, I'll check some of that stuff when it warms up a bit, too freakin' cold to worry about it right now.

Check the vacuum line under the battery. I have fixed this twice on my "97- the plastic vaccum line rubs against a bracket under the battery tray and leaks rendering the cruise in operative. A short piece of rubber hose usually fixes the problem.

My 97 Dodge had the same trouble, I took the switch panel out of the steering well and checked as per the shop manual. Took it to a shop, it was the clockspring. About $200 for the clockspring and another $100 labor and it works.

Does your horn work/ airbag lite on ? If not you may need a clockspring. Hard to check with out scan tools.

I'm not real experienced with Dodge-Cummins diesel cruise setup. But, my cruise-control went bad in all my GM diesels and they all went slowly. #1 problem was the vacuum pumps. On some of the diesel trucks - the cruise is the only reason the vacuum pump is used. Since most diesels don't make their own vacuum - a pump of some sort is needed. #2 problem I've had is the servo-pod diaphram going bad. In that case - it was much cheaper to get a few at the junkyard. They are usually not diesel-specific and the pods from many gas engine cars and trucks fit fine.
