i"ve had an old Electric Wheel brand running gear for years. Finally getting around to resotring/repainting and putting a new hayrack on it. Any idea what color scheme the gear and rims were? Also, any idea what decals (if any) were on the gear? Anyone have any idea where I could find them, in reproduction?
Thanks
DJL

I bought one about a year ago. It had not been repainted since new and appeared to have been barn kept. It was hard to tell the color at first but as I started prepping it to paint it was obvious the frame was red and the wheels were green. In the pictures below, you might get an idea of the original color scheme. The green on the wheels came very close to the green paint on the side boards. The frame had a black pinstripe (visible in the picture of the SN tag). The pinstripe was on the back of the rear axle and on the front of the front axle. On the braces on the front axle were the words "Electric Wheel". I think those were decals as they felt raised to the touch. Here are several pictures of it when I picked it up, one as I was in the process of painting it Ford Blue and a couple after I finished. I painted it these colors as it's now just a parade wagon to pull behind my Ford 3000 (which I have yet to paint). Oh, mine is about 6 feet by 14 feet.
Also I picked up some literature on ebay for the EW trailers when they were owned by Firestone. in those pics the frame is red and the wheels are white. third party image

When we painted ours we used Massey Ferguson red and it matched almost identically.

I'm thinking either the John Day Co. or Baum Hyraulics in Omaha Neb. still sells parts for these running gears. My brother bought some in the last five years. chris

The electric running gears that I remember us having on the farm were red with white rims. They had the word Electric on the on the back and some of them had it on the side bolsters also.

If I remember right didn't the Decal have a Lightening Bolt running thru it? We had some of those Running Gears at Home and that is what I remember. Where did they ever come up with the "Running Gear" Nomenclature for these things?any Ideas? See Ya' John
