My dad has a JD 60 pedal tractor he wants me to restore. It is pretty worn out, needs tires, seat, steering wheel. Does anyone know a good site for parts for pedal tractors? How rare are the JD 60's? This one was fairly old when my dad bought it in the early 70's so I assume it was manufactured when the full size 60 was being made.

www.dakotahtoys.com He has a large selection of parts for pedal tractors and 1/16 toy tractors. I've bought from him for years. He's got alot of good stuff.

Just a thought...

I wonder what it's value is in "as-found" condition, vs. "restored"?

If you want to restore it to original condition, go with Samuelson Pedal Tractor Parts. The parts you get from Deere dealers will not be the correct ones.

Go to Pedaltractor.com. I was at an auction last Saturday one of these sold for $385.00 in very rough condition. Your Dad has a good investment there. I found this site by just entering a search for pedal tractor. Also many parts can still be ordered through your local John Deere dealer.

Wasn't the gear shift used to make it click when you pedaled? I am just guessing. I sold an old Allis Chalmers pedal car that I had painted yellow for the kids and then blue for the grandkids. The guy that bought it used some kind of thinner and Q tips in the corners to remove the paint in layers. He said that he ended up with the original orange paint. That is hard to believe but he said that it looks good.
