Have you try'ed changing to 12 volt , they don't turn over very fast in the summer time on 6 volts . also you could bypass res to start like in autos such as 55 chev .

Ken..... ..'nuttin' wrong with thinnin' the engine oil with magnetic oilpan heater. But you'd probably gitt better starts iff'n you attached it to yer COLD INTAKE MANIFOLD. (remove after starting so your co-joined exhaust don't cook yer heater)

'nuttin' wrong with lower hoze waterheater EXCEPT the "kink" of the 8N's lower hoze makes for difficult to impossible installation and think about what the other end of the lower radiator hoze is connected to....the RADIATOR, whose job is to make hot-water COLD and yer trying to heat up the water?

Heres a more better cold weather heat-up start trick. WARM your battery. You can actually get side-of-battery electric heating pads. You haffta go shoppin' ferr'em, ask. In the 40's, my dad used to bring the ol'Plymouth 6-volt battery into the coalstove heated house to keep it warm during below zero Colorado mountain winter chills. Start right up while the cheap next door neighbor was refilling his radiator with teakettle hotwater and he had trouble starting.

By the way, when was the last time you "tuned-up" yer 8N? Having to use ether quick-start is almost always a sign of weak sparkies..... ...Dell

You know, I thought this was an open forum, which everyone had the right to post on any tractor related thread. I cannot see anything wrong with the way Dell gets his message across. There is a lot on individual that cannot spell correctly also. You going to try to run them out of here too!!!

If you don't like reading Dell's post skip over them..

Just my two cents....

A tank heater will give the best results; lower hose heater is not as efficient.
