Convert 3 point on 656U to a Fast Hitch

My dad is inlove with Fast Hitch and has a lot of Implements with it. The issue is that he now has a 656 Utility with 3 point and wants to convert to Fast Hitch. Is this a difficult conversion? Has anyone done this before? Would a fast hitch off another model tractor work on the 656?

The problem is interesting. A fast hitch has draft control and pressure down, and attachment ease that make it pretty unique. A fast hitch could probably be engineered from components fitting that IH frame size, and designing them to adapt to the lift arms of the 656. It would be lacking in draft control and the implements might be small for it (what were they off of?). JimN

I"m not sure what tractor the implements were meant for but my dad was using them behind his 400 Farmall. My brother had a 656 Farmall that had fast hitch so I know you can get the 656 both ways. We might just build an adapter that hooks to the 3 point hitch with fast hitch arms to accept the fast hitch implements.

Sounds OK I think the adapter might cause binding due to the fact that the FH was two parallel sockets pivoted in front such that they were not independant. Hooking onr to one 3PT arm, and the other to the other will pivot them from two points at the fromt of the tractor pull point. The effect will be (I am afraid) that the implement will not have side to side freedom due to this triangulation. Even if the two "sockets" were fastened together they would not pivot correctly. Complex geometry. Putting a set of FH sockets with locking flippers on an implements prongs, welding a member between them and up for the top link, then making an appropriate set of 3PT pins to stick out of them to hook the 3PT arms on might be the ticket. Installing a bracket on the top front of this adapter to accept the top link would do it. JimN
