I was searching the web last night for a new desktop theme and ran across the above image labeled as "Old Ford tractor in snow". It rather irked me that such a nice specimen of a COCKSHUTT would be deliberatly called a FORD. But then I started thinking of other tractor abuses I've seen over the years. For example, there was a Ford 8N thatwas painted pink and had a 3 foot beek pasted on the front with the words "Pink Chicken" spray painted across the hood. (I wish I had a picture of that now) I bought a Cockshutt 540 last year that had JD stickers plastered on the hood and seat and a spray can of JD green plastered over the frame. Just DISGUSTING!! I've seen a host of old Cockshutt 30's painted greens, purples and ugly black and oranges all done with spray cans. It seems that old Fords and Cockshutts have spray can magnets that keep attracting the mindless abusers.
I can truly say I've never seen a paint-can-abused JD, although I'm sure they do exist. Nor a MF, but I have seen a p-c-abused Allis WD45.
Oh I've seen many work-abused tractors that are held together by baling wire and sloppy weld spatter that just keep limping along.

Soory for the rant, but do any of you see tractor abuse?

I guess if a person buys and pays for a hunk of iron they're entitled to paint it any color they
want.

Someone who vandalizes someone else's tractor with paint needs to be taken out behind the barn, but someone who paints his own old tractor some wild color is merely dancing to his own tune. Whooee! Jim

In my opinion, about the worse kind of abuse for a tractor is not using it. I'm quilty of it, as I've got a couple tractors that just always seem to be too small for anything around the farm, so they just set there. It's always so sad to see them just sitting around doing nothing. Tractors like to work.

I think someone already tried to standardise opinions, choices and types of personalities. I prefer it this way, pink tractors, rusty tractors, abused tractors and anything their rightful owners want to do with them.. Unless they are set on cinder blocks for "any" reason.

I was at a pull up around Denver back abour 1994 and there was a lady pulling a 730 JD standard painted pink. Now that just about takes the cake. Everyone knows it's just not right to paint a JD anything but green and yellow. LOL
I wonder if she is still pulling that tractor?

There is a woman who hits some of the tractor shows here in MN that has a JD B - maybe a 50 -
painted Pink.
Lettering on the side says Jane Deere.
Looks awful

Yes, the one in ye picture is a good example of tractor abuse. It should be under a shelter in that kind of weather unless it is plowing snow.
