My cousin has had the tractor apart and the rebuilder said both flywheel and clutch were wore past the point of rebuilding. The new flywheel is from A+I and the new clutch from Hy Capacity. Anyone have any experience with Hy Capacity clutches in that series of tractors?

John,

Dunno about the Deere stuff, but I've used hy-cap on Massey imports and my Ford's, and no trouble so far. It seems to be a pretty good line of stuff. Another one you can look at would be central east farm supply. I've gotten clutches from them in the past at a considerable saving, with the Borg & Beck stamp, the same as OEM.... Only thing is, ya gotta watch the prices because sometimes they're more money than OEM... and sometimes they're a lot less. Worth a look, and I'd have no concern over either of these aftermarket suppliers.

BTW, if you've only done 3 clutches in 20000 hours, there's no shame in any of them. 3500 hours is often about the service life of most dry clutches on loader tractors.... Good luck.

Dad bought the tractor used about 13 years ago. The 3 clutches are since I became re involved with the farm in '98. Don't know how many hours between clutches.

hy- capacity is a good as clutch as you can by will have same warenty as jd. most fly wheel can be re-ground several time before having to be replaced. also remember the releas bearing is a hy=internal slave cly. so its need to be replaced last time i did one i got the bearing and slave cly cheaper at jd then hi-cap.

Ben

This is at LEAST the third clutch that has gone into this tractor. It spends most of its time under a loader and shows over 20,000 hours on the tach.

I put a new clutch in a 2350 MFWD a few years ago, but it was a Luk. I never heard of Hy-Capacity. Sounds like maybe it's an el-cheapo aftermarket, especially if it is wore out already. I wouldnt go with anything except OEM or a top brand aftermarket.

Don't know about John Deere's but I've only heard good things about Hy-Capacity's IH parts especially their TA's. I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
