Well thanks guy for worrying about me and my family. We got power back on around 8:45 tonight Friday. I have a lot of clean up to do tomorrow and the next couple weeks probaby. I have a part of a tree limb sticking through my liveing room ceiling/roof that I will have to remove and then patch the roof. I also will have to pull my well pump up about 10 foot since the pipe broke off because of the cold weather and no power to keep the well house warm. Oh well I'm alive and getting warmed up and will be posting again. I'll not try to catch up on the last week or I'd be on this for a week doing so. Thanks again for the calls etc.

Hi Old,

Naaaaw, "course we didn"t miss you. Enjoyed the rest from all your posts!

Seriously though, glad you are OK, back on line and no real serious problems - yeah the roof can be fixed - I was meaning people.
We are never really properly prepared for every eventuality, but I guess you are pretty adept at getting by when in a jam.

The clearing up is often worse than the emergency repairs and will take some time and effort.

Hope your lounge is a single storey, or it could be a big mess in the room above!

Anyhows, glad to see you back and just get out there and get that genny rigged up proper, ready for the next time.

Windy in the UK but too damn warm, so far, for a winter period. Global weather change of some sort for definite.

Regards, RAB

So far no snow yet but its still early in the day. There also calling for freezeing drizzle on top of the snow so I'm keeping the genny on the truck just in case. I hope by this time next year to have a genny house built for it as part of the well house. That way I can use the engine heat to keep the well house warm and then rig up some way to switch it over to run bits and pieces of the house. That is if I ever get round-2-it that is

I have a brother that lives at Louisburg, Mo. He said Thursday that he wouldn't have power restored for 7 to 10 days. Good thing they heat with wood!! He is getting electrical from the generator of his Volvo semi tractor. He said it looks like war zone around him.

Now T_bone, he is not pruning his tree in the living room. Rich heard about growing fruit in a bottle, figured he would grow fruit in a front room. Won't have to go outside to pick it...LMAO

And we don't care what anyone says Old, we're glad to see you back on.:>)..:>)

Hi;
Glad to see you are back safe & well. Good that you've the family around to help you sort out the mess.
Thankfully we've survived the gales & rainstorms, no flooding here (too high).
By the way, several old familiar names seem to have disapeared lately - Turke Bros & Major Man, have they gone to Florida on all the excess profits from farming this past year LoL.
Cheers David

I'm leaveing the roof alone till it gets a little warmer out. The stick seems to be keeping the cold air out and the warter out also so I figure its better to leave it till I can do a patch the right way since its not leaking

Rich how long were you without power ? I had been wondering why i haven't seen anything from you for last few days . I thought i had it bad as i busted front axle on the 730 feeding hay to cows . At least we have stayed warm . We haven't got a lot on snow yet this winter season . That will most likely change as national western stock show is on this week . Weather always gets bad after that .

Power went off around 10:30PM saturday night the 13th and didn't come back on till around 8:45 PM tonight. There calling for 5-10 inches of snow tomorrow and then freezeing drizzle sunday and monday so I'll have to get it in gear tomorrow to fix the well system and roof, I hope that is if it doesn't get here before I get that all done that is

Rich,

Good to hear that you are well. Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. Wish I was a little closer so I could help out. We did not get anything but rain. I had about 4 inches but some close by had close to 10". Still nothing like the flood we had back in Sept. Wish you the best on getting things back in order. Maybe we will have some good weather for a while.

Take care,
Steve

Yep lots of trees to clean up. Wished I burned wood to heat with I would have enough to last me 10 years if not more. Only thing I heat with wood is my shop and in the winter I don't do much out there so I don't even use a cord of wood in 2 years

God Bless!!!

Glad to hear just now you came out of this safe and without really serious damage. You have kept your spirits up in a tough situation. Told my kids what I"ve read you"re going thru and they"ve been very interested. You"re a good example of "country folks will survive"!. Will keep following the reports. Good luck in this next round!

So far as I can tell right now the stick has kept the water out. Tomorrow I'll fill the hole with that foam spray stuff and have to wiat till it gets warmer out to patch the roof the correct way or at least as correct as I can. Sort of funny to look up at the cieling fan and see a 2 foot piece of stick hagging down next to it.
